What factors prolong the lives of dictatorships? This course will evaluate these procedures mathematically, by considering the various properties that electoral systems may or may not satisfy. How seriously did you participate? Throughout the course, we will interrogate how ideologies and experiences of race and citizenship have constituted each other over time, producing particular forms of politics—and enabling forms of unequal political belonging to coexist with claims to equal citizenship and democratic principles. Course open to undergraduates and graduate students. Russian and East European Studies. Thomas Aquinas, John of Paris, Marsilius of Padua, Bartolus of Sasseferato, and Baldus de Ubaldi.
Roman Philosophers on the Fear of Death. Class exercises and homework are designed to encourage students to analyze political events around us and the world. Attention is focused upon decision making in institutions of American national government, such as Congress, the Presidency, and the Supreme Court, and upon political behavior-public opinion, voting, and other forms of political activity. While we read various authors, our focus is primarily on the act and practice of writing itself. Majors have a choice of specializing in one or two subfields, selecting a broader mix of courses, or designing interdisciplinary programs that enable them to do a double major, or major and concentrate, in additional fields.
